Key Objective:
Under the direction of the ECE Site Director, act as the Lead classroom teacher for our Wobbler room. Create and Implement curriculum / lesson plans with the goal of developing a nurturing environment, where positive self image is realized in each child.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Care for infants/wobblers with activities designed to promote intellectual and developmental growth.
- Act as team member in the design and implementation of planned curriculum with review and approval by Site Director.
- Greet children and parents warmly with professional language and tone on a daily basis, with no parent or child excluded.
- Establish clear discipline standards / classroom rules consistent with Center philosophy and policies to ensure the health and safety of the children.
- Coordinate snacks, lunchtimes or naps when appropriate in daily activities; share responsibility for classroom/project set-up and clean-up.
- Participate in parent conferences or discussions as needed.
- Complete required reports such as incident, injury or medicine dosage logs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 30 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education, or related field – OR – At least one (1) year of experience with Infants in a licensed childcare facility.
- Passionate about working with children
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgement during emergency/crisis situations.
- Professional dress code in a manner compatible with assigned position.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for curriculum development and effective interaction with parents and other staff.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, work indoors and outdoors, and be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children.
Required Certifications, Trainings and Cont. Ed:
- Maintain enrollment in the State of Oregon, Early Learning Division Central Background Registry.
- Current Infant, Child & Adult First Aid / CPR Certification.
- Current Oregon Food Handler’s Card.
- State of Oregon, Early Learning Division trainings: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect; Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety; and Prevention is Better than Treatment.
- Must be willing and able to obtain 15 clock hours of continuing/additional training in Childcare on an annual basis (some training hours are paid, and we offer wage increase incentives for continuing education).
